September 4th: Unite, which represents workers at the ESB’s Moneypoint plant, today (Wednesday) warned that the “provocative” tone of a communication sent by management to Moneypoint workers could threaten industrial peace at the plant.
Commenting, James Coss – Secretary of the union’s Energy Branch – said:
“Staff and unions have been speedily and constructively engaging with the company’s proposals. A number of issues remain outstanding, resulting in union members voting overwhelmingly to reject the package of proposals in the ballot which concluded earlier this week.
“The company’s decision to issue a provocative and wholly unwarranted communication to workers in Moneypoint last night seems calculated to derail the process currently underway, and indeed may threaten industrial peace in Moneypoint and beyond.
“I am urging management to unreservedly withdraw last night’s communication so that we can move forward”, Mr Coss concluded.
