Unite shocked at proposed Cadbury redundancies, due to meet with management

unite-white-out-of-redFebruary 26th: Unite, which represents around 400 workers at the Cadbury plants in Dublin and Rathmore, has expressed shock at today’s announcement by Mondelez Ireland that it intends seeking up to 160 redundancies. The union is to meet with management to discuss the implications of the announcement. Commenting, Unite Regional Coordinating Officer Richie Browne said:

“Cadbury’s is a long-established employer, and the jobs it provides in both Rathmore and Coolock are vital to those communities and the economy. Today’s announcement was unexpected, and our members are both shocked and angry.

“Unite will be meeting management next week to discuss the implications of today’s announcement for our members. Our efforts will be focussed on minimising the number of any redundancies and securing the best possible terms for the workers affected”, Richie Browne concluded.
