November 18th: Over 89 per cent of Unite ESB members have voted in favour of industrial action in the ballot which concluded today (18 November).
The result was 89.1 per cent in favour and 10.9 per cent against.
Commenting, Unite Official Richie Browne said: “The aggregate results of all union ballots was 87.5 per cent in favour and 12.5 per cent against, while over 89 per cent of Unite members voted in favour of industrial action. This overwhelming result indicates the strength of feeling over unilateral changes to the staff pension scheme.
“Union members are determined to defend their pension rights, and the Group of Unions will now meet on Friday 22 November to consider further steps”, the statement concluded.
