Unite members working at Langford Lodge, the successful Crumlin-based Aerospace & Defence company, have voted overwhelmingly for strike action on the issue of pay and an equal pay audit. The majority for strike action was 86.5 percent on a turnout of 90 percent.
Following the vote, Unite has written to Langford Lodge management seeking a meeting to secure a fair offer or the union’s members will serve notice to take industrial action.
Langford Lodge’s latest accounts confirm made a pre-tax profit of £2.7 million on turnover of £23.5 million.
Unite general secretary Sharon Graham commended the determination of her members’ to win a decent pay increase: “Unite’s members are determined to win an increase to pay to protect themselves and their families during this cost of living crisis.
“Langford Lodge, who can easily afford a fair pay increase, should note this overwhelming vote for industrial action and return with an offer in line with our members’ expectations. Our members will have the full support of their union in any industrial action.”
Unite regional officer Kieran Ellison confirmed the next steps for the workforce: “Unite is seeking a pay increase that provides protection from the surging cost of living and a meaningful equal pay audit.
“If we don’t get a decent offer, we will be left with no alternative but to set dates for strike action and prepare the pickets.”
