Unite urges company to engage constructively to resolve five-month old dispute
The dispute between Unite and construction company JJ Rhatigan and Co will form the subject of a hearing at the Construction Industry Disputes Tribunal (CIDT) tomorrow (Monday 19 January).
The dispute, which has been running since 19 September 2014, centres on the company’s use of a complex web of sub-contracting which has forced workers into bogus self-employment earning less than €5 per hour.
Speaking today in advance of tomorrow’s hearing, Unite Regional Officer Tom Fitzgerald said:
“Unite welcomes the opportunity to put the workers’ case for decent terms and conditions, as laid down by construction industry agreements, to the CIDT tomorrow, and we would urge JJ Rhatigan & Co to engage constructively with the process”.
