Flying the flag at Newry Pride

September 3rd: Members of Unite’s LGBT, Youth and Women’s Committees attended last Saturday’s Newry Pride. We marched in the parade and gave out Unite LGBT stickers to spectators along the route. After the parade we set up an information stall and completed more of our petitions to Edwin Poots to lift the ban on gay men giving blood in N.I. It was also an opportunity to engage with potential members in Newry and the surrounding rural areas. The Pride finished with an evening social, and everyone agreed it had been a good day. – Taryn Trainor, Regional Equalities Organiser
