November 25th: Unite members working for pensions provider Irish Life have voted by 78 per cent to reject a proposal from the Workplace Relations Commission in respect of the long-running pensions dispute. The dispute, which involved two 24-hour stoppages earlier this year, centres on Irish Life’s unilateral decision to close the workers’ Defined Benefit pension scheme without agreement.
Following the overwhelming vote by members to reject the WRC proposal, Unite is seeking to have this dispute referred to the Labour Court for a full hearing.
