Griffith College language teachers join Unite in fight for rights

unite-white-out-of-redUnion accuses college of failing to provide proper contracts

College told “Don’t just teach about employment rights – observe them!”

March 28th: Unite, which organises English Language Teachers throughout Ireland, today announced that a majority of teachers in the Griffith Institute of Language (part of Griffith College Dublin) have joined the union in a bid to secure decent terms and conditions.

Commenting, Unite Regional Organiser Roy Hassey said:

“Some of our members in Griffith College have been denied a proper employment contract for years, in contravention of employment legislation.

“Ironically, Griffith College is currently teaching a course in employment law.  Unite would suggest that, rather than simply teaching about employment rights, Griffith College start observing those rights”, Roy Hassey said.
