Minister urged to refrain from further comment at “critical juncture”
January 14th: Speaking this afternoon, Unite official Willie Quigley described as ‘unhelpful’ Transport Minister Leo Varadkar’s remarks regarding the likelihood of industrial action at Irish Rail.
“The remarks by Minister Varadkar quoted in today’s Irish Independent are both unhelpful and ill-considered.
“With outstanding issues expected to go before the Labour Court in the coming weeks, the Minister would be well-advised to maintain a neutral stance rather than using the media to re-state the company’s position.
“In the interests of rail service users, Unite would urge the Minister to refrain from any further comment at this critical juncture”, Willie Quigley said.
